  2.                Roketz - The Full Version 1.31 (Apr. 12, 1995)
  3.                 The ultimate PAL AGA only shoot-em-up/racer

  6. For those who normally don't read ReadMe's! Read it - it's only 2 pages!
  7.  
  8. First things first, this version of Roketz is NOT freeware, unauthorized 
  9. distribution is NOT ALLOWED by any means!
  10.  
  11. Make a backup copy of your oringinal Roketz disks and use the copies instead
  12. the "Master Disks" - we really can't afford to send you replacement disks so 
  13. in your best interests BACKUP THEM NOW!
  14.  
  15. Yes ... the Roketz has been released! But thats not all - Roketz is not born
  16. perfect ... so we thought:
  17.  
  18. There is a roketz data disk (free upgrade) coming some time in the 1995...
  19. It will feature more levels, ships, gameplay and so on (maybe even a 
  20. serial-link play option).
  21.  
  22. The problem is that we have drained our brains during a year and we are
  23. totally out of megacool ideas (for now ;) that is). So if you want the
  24. data disk to feature things you like best, you could support us not only
  25. with your hard cash but with superb ideas and additional work too.
  26.  
  27. You could provide us with:
  28.  
  29. 1. New weapon descriptions.
  30.    Bullets will be white pixels forever, important is how they should act
  31.    (You may also send a picture how the weapon should look in EQUIP, 
  32.    Real3Dv2.47 or better objects only).
  33.  
  34. 2. New ships together with tech info and little historical background.
  35.    (R3D2.47 or better projects only).
  36.  
  37. 3. Levels. But... only very good ones!
  38.    Only rendered 24bit stuff wanted!
  39.    X*Y may not be greater than 412672.
  40.    They should not be too colourful (we have to downgrade them from 24 bit) 
  41.    They should look like... Cool or sth. There should be much space to fly
  42.    Some history about battlefield should be provided.
  43.    +Small 24bit 78*62 icons for level selection screen.
  44.  
  45. 4. Interactive objects.
  46.    We already have forcefields, extra landing/refueling places, cannons,
  47.    teleporters. What else? No "aliens who're stomping around and shooting
  48.    at you" stories, please.

  50. 5. Crazy Ideas!
  51.  
  52. 6. Photos of your girlfriends, your girlfriend wannabees or the girls you
  53.    want to be your girlfriend. And you, female ROK fans, your piccys too 8).
  54.  
  55. NOTE. There will be a Miss ROKETEER chosen 25 June each year during
  56. 1995-1999 and the lucky sender of da photo will get a ROKETZ XL T-Shirt
  57. or maybe two.

  59. Your digital donations to the game will be mentioned in credits and
  60. thats about it. No copyrights to the donators though :(.

  62. If you think you have made a really big score, reached elite status to
  63. 100% or made a mega cool speed record then send it us (e-mail preferrably)
  64. we are setting up somekind of a Hall-Of-Fame of the World...if you want to
  65. be famous that is ;) Note! If you want to enter the big hall of fame 
  66. then your better send us your Pilot file - so The Jury can check that
  67. you are not bluffing.

  69. Now for those who have got their version from some illegal channels:
  70. Don't you think this piece of gameware is worth something, isn't it worth
  71. registering? If you think it's cool then check out the following how 
  72. to get your personal copy of Roketz:

  74. Registration fee for the Roketz full game is 10 UK pounds, 15 US Dollars
  75. or 25 DM (that's German currency you know). Visit your local bank to 
  76. convert your money into any of the above mentioned currencies. 
  77. Due to outrageously big amount of money banks charge for international 
  78. transactions, the only sane way to send the registration fee
  79. is cash via mail. We strongly advise you to camouflage the money so it can
  80. not be detected before the lawful owners (i.e. us) open it. Otherwise it's
  81. rather likely that we don't receive it at all. The best way is to put the
  82. money between a christmas card and stick it in an envelope. The cuter card
  83. the better :). And remember - NO COINS. State your full name (or the name
  84. you want the ROKETZ registred to) and your postal address so we can send
  85. the full release directly to you. We are also interested to know the
  86. configuration of your machine. You could include your e-mail address if
  87. you have one. Bug reports, suggestions etc. are welcome too. And don't forget 
  88. that snailmail is not instantaneous.

  144. Last minute notes:
  145.  
  146. Roketz can be installed to HD using HD installer which can be found
  147. on Disk 1.
  148.  
  149. Important! When playing from disk remember to unprotect Disk 2 and keep 
  150. it in disk drive while playing if you want the status and scoring system 
  151. to work properly.
  152. When started from HD then no assigns must be made, just make sure all
  153. data files are in same directory with Roketz, also make sure that
  154. diskfont.library and mathtrans.library are present in your libs: - these
  155. are needed too.
  156. If you use the HD installer then it'll copy all necessary stuff (except 
  157. libs, you should have them on your HD anyway) to your HD so you don't 
  158. have to worry about anything.

  160. If you have HD and no fastmem then you MIGHT have problems running Roketz
  161. - it eats a lot memory so disable all external hardware and/or boot without
  162. startup-sequence.

  164. Floppy users, if tired of intro watching, can remove the Intro line from
  165. s:startup-sequence.

  169. About the gameplay:
  170.  
  171. If you seem to die more then three times in a minute, read the docs 
  172. and practice a little with the slowest engine. The game will not be true
  173. fun before you have really mastered the skill of flying.

  175. You should read the ingame docs (at least once ;) to get the most out of
  176. the Roketz!
